These older Blaupunkt car radios from the ’90s have always been a favorite of mine, with their uncluttered, easy to use controls, and more importantly, their excellent performance. With just a clip lead attached to the antenna terminal, this one was able to pick up weak distant FM signals situated right between strong local stations, and the AM tuner sounds much better than average, as you can hear in this video. Blaupunkt even advertised “Superior AM frequency response” in their brochures. The auto-reverse cassette player works fine and sounds good, too. Unfortunately, in the early 2000s Blaupunkt cheapened out their product line and began to focus on video-game-like styling just like everyone else. So if you see one of these older models with the simple green LCD, don’t pass it up! Video Rating: 5 / 5
